Governing Body Members

The College is managed by a Governing Body (G.B.) constituted according to the rules of the Government of Assam for the management of non-govt. colleges. It consists of ten to twelve members, with two nominees of the State Government, two nominees of the affiliating university, one educationist, one person from the backward classes and a lady member nominated by the Director of Higher Education, apart from the Vice Principal and the local Deputy Commissioner.  The Principal is the Member Secretary of the G. B. Two teachers and one member of non-teaching staff are co-opted into the G.B. The Director of Higher Education may include the local MLA and the Chairman of the Zila Parisad in the G.B. He nominates one member as the President of the Governing Body. Two senior officers of Assam Petrochemicals Ltd and Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation are members of the Governing Body and contribute actively to its development.

The G.B. constitutes committees as and when required to coordinate and monitor the activities in the College. Seven subcommittees and a central committee have been formed by the G.B. The Academic Calendar is prepared by a Committee constituted for this sole purpose.
