The College publishes its prospectus and Academic Calendar every
year. The prospectus contains information on history of the
College, courses of study, list of faculty members and other
staff, admission procedure, college and library rules, fee
structure, NSS, students’ union, etc.
All the students of the College are from within the State of
Assam. Over thirty years of its functioning, the College has
produced 544 graduates. Two students have succeeded in R.I.T. and
CSIR examinations.
The College admitted 112 students in the year 2000-01 and 151 in
the year 2001-02. Out of these numbers, the numbers of students in
the science stream were 35 and 33 respectively in the two years,
rest of the students being in the Arts Stream. In the academic
session 2002-03, the College has 284 students on its rolls, with
only 26 students in the science stream. The success rate of
students is below 50%.
Government Merit scholarships and stipends for Scheduled Castes
and Tribes and Backward
Classes are available to students of the
college.
A career counseling cell has been recently formed which offers
counseling for the students on one day every week. Some teachers
offer academic and personal counseling to students.
Namrup College has an Alumni Association formed on 16th.September,
2002. It now observes 16th. September as the ‘Alumni
Day.’ The Alumni Association, though newly formed, has donated
books, a steel almirah for the library, Rs. 5000 in cash for the
purchase of new books and has done earth-filling work at the
College cycle-stand site. It has also published its souvenir and
plans to undertake some development work in future.
The College offers some indoor and outdoor games for the
recreation of the students though it lacks proper facilities. It
publishes a students’ magazine every two years. Cultural
programmes are organised by the College on the occasion of
‘Freshman Social’ and during the College Week. Various
competitions on debating, recitation, dancing etc. are held on
this occasion and only the freshers can participate in them.
Cultural programmes form a part of the NSS Special Camp as well.
The College has a television set and a tape recorder for the
entertainment of the students.
